Land Based Fighters

Soko Orao; In 1943 Greece purchased 40 of these Yugoslavian built fighters to fill out 2 new squadrons and allow the relocation of 1 squadron of Ierax to a lower threat area, as the Ierax is no longer considered a front line fighter. Armament consists of 6 13.2mm M40 machineguns and a removable streamlined bomb-rack under each wing for bombs up to 500 kg, auxiliary fuel tanks, or chemical container for smoke making. Alternatively, up to three rocket projectiles may be fitted under each wing.
Dimensions; 37ft(11.3m)/ 35ft 2in(9.8m)/ 11ft 2in (3.4m)/ 226sq ft(21m²); 1x 2,100hp(1,566kW) Pratt & Whitney R-2800-10W; Empty weight 5,952lbs(2,700 kg); Loaded weight 7,992lbs(3,625 kg); Maximum take off weight 8,598lbs(3,900 kg); Maximum speed 435mph(700 kph) at 22,966ft(7,000 metres). Range (internal fuel) 745mi(1,200 km/648nm); range with maximum external fuel 1,339mi(2,155 km/1,163nm). Service ceiling 34,449ft(10,500 meters). Rate of climb 3,789ft/min(19.25 m/s).

Boulton Paul P.94 Resistant; in mid 1938 Greece ordered 65 new Boulton Paul fighters to replace the Hurricanes and to expand the fighter fleet and they will be powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin VI and armed with four 20mm cannon.
Dimensions; 39ft 4in(12m)/ 35ft 4in(10.8m)/ 12ft 2in(3.7m)/ 250sq ft(23.2 m²); 1x 1,280hp(954.5kW) RR Merlin VI; max speed 360mph(579kph); range 520 miles(837km/452nm); rate of climb 3,235 ft/min(16.4m/s) and service ceiling 30,350ft(9,250m).

KEA K-5 Ierax; This Greek fighter developed with French assistance flew for first time in 1937 and was accepted by the EVA (Royal Hellenic Air Force) in 1938 and they soon placed an order for 72 aircraft to replace the current Gladiators and for gunnery training and to create two more fighter squadrons by 1941. Armament is six 7.92mm MGs and the engine is a licence-built 890hp Hispano-Suiza 12Y.
Dimensions; 36ft 1in(11m)/ 28ft 9in(8.76m)/ 8ft 2in(2.5); 1x 890hp(664kW) Hispano-Suiza 12Y; max speed 327mph(526kph); range 695 miles(1,118km/604nm); rate of climb 2,598 ft/min(13.2m/s) and service ceiling 32,800ft(9,997m).
