Royal Egyptian Navy

The Royal Egyptian Navy (REN) is an indepedent military arm of Egypt. There is a close co-operation with the Royal Navy and indeed one high-ranking officer is attached to the service. In times of war the REN would assist the RN in protecting Egyptian territorial waters.

The main base is at Alexandria. The Navy is split into three operational units;

Defence Squadron (Damiyat)
Patrol Squadron (El Kadesseya, El Yarmouk, Badr, Hettein)
[Q4/48 2nd Patrol Squadron (El Malek Farouk, Mohammed Ali El Kebir, Ibrahim el Awal, Al Seddiq)
Fast Squadron (Al Sarea, Raqib, Qamar, El Hoot)
Transport Squadron (El Amira Fawzia, Naphtys, Nile)
