Ceremonies held today marked the retirement from service of the BFW Bf109 interceptor and the Handley Page Hereford maritime strike aircraft. Numbers 31 and 32 Squadrons at Ladevci Air Base, Kraljevo handed over the last of their Augsburg eagles and are now mounted on the Soko Jastreb, and at Dubinje Air Base, Sjenica, Number 82 Squadron took to the air with its new Soko Zmaj attack bombers.

The first pre-production example of the Drzava Fabrika Aviona Type 222 Vihor advance training monoplane was delivered to the Royal Yugoslav Air Force Test Centre here. It is anticipated that service testing will take up most, if not all, of the remainder of the year and a decision on procurement of a quantity of the aircraft is not expected before January.
