Jyllands-Posten January 18th 1924

After arriving in Toulon late yesterday evening, The King and Queen were greeted by the Mayor of the city, Msr. Pierre LeClerc and a group of city officials. The King was escorted directly to the Hotel that is serving as temporary accomodation for the uninjured crew of the Copenhagen, at his insistance as he believed it was too late to disturb the injured in hospital. His majesty was heard to say " The injured need a nights sleep more than they need to be disturbed by one".

The King held a brief meeting with the Captain and senior officers of both the Copenhagen and the Falster, so as to better appreciate the details he had recieved before arriving.

The itinerary for tomorrow is to start with a visit to the port to see the damage first hand, before visiting the injured in the hospital mid morning.

The King had expressed his desire the personally thank the Captain and crew of the "Maria Magdelena" for their assistance during the incident, but was disappointed to hear that they had to depart due to scheduling constraints.
"We owe these good people a great deal, and it is our wish that we have the oppertunity to repay this debt"
