Italian Press release 30/06

Today the Italian Government held a meeting on the present situation in the South Atlantic and issued the following statement;

We are in a state of confusion over the current situation in the South Atlantic between Nordmark and Argentina. We know that both sides are at war but we have recieved no message from the Nordmarkian(?) or Argentinian governments, or from our ambassadors in situe. Therefore we cannot jump to conclusions.

We, The Italian Government, therefore requests that all Nordmarkian shipping clears Italian territorial waters within the next 48 hours. If any Nordmarkian ships do not wish to leave territorial waters they will be allowed to remain in harbour for the duration of the war, or until more facts come to light. All Argentinian shipping currently within Italian Territorial waters will be interned for 48 hours before being allowed to leave freely. Again, Argentinian ships shall be able to remain in harbour for the duration of the war if they wish.

Diplomatic note from the Nordmark government

Diplomatic note from the Nordmark government
The note has appeared in Nordmark and Italian newspapers June 31st, one day after it was handed over to the Italian diplomatic representative in Stockholm and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome.

The Government of the Kingdom of Nordmark fully understands the concerns of the Italian government, and as consequence has ordered all Nordmark merchant vessels underway to Italy to reverse course and return to their harbours of departure, and has also ordered all Nordmark vessels currently undertaking offloading or onloading of cargo in Italian harbours to expedite this, take on fuel, and if necessary interrupt an onloading or offloading while incomplete, and depart for Nrodmark harbours. The Government of the Kingdom of Nordmark wishes to express its regret that this eliminate the export of highgrade iron ore to Italy for the duration of the conflict.

At this point in time, the Government of Nordmark finds it fortuitous to clarify that the war inwhich it finds itself - against its own will and intentions - will not from the side of the Kingdom of Nordmark be prosecuted as a war of trade, of raiding ships on the high seas. This will be a military campaign, with military objectives.
