It is hoped that the sixth and last Mendoza will complete as the trial ship for the new 115mm DP twin mount now under development. Intended for the 1933 Destroyer Class it is hoped that by Q4 1932 three mounts will be complete for sea trials aboard this ship when she commissions in Q1 1933. Range has been increased as has misc weight to sim heavier mounts and some DCs. No sonar will be fitted. Should only two mounts be ready a new sextuple 20mmm mount will replace the midships mount.

Definitely needs wider turrets. They don't appear to be on the centreline either.

Mounting 3 FC directors is unrealistic. Destroyers usually just had one. Topweight is the main problem.

Ok, I've changed the picture. Bigger turrets and now an even number of pixels wide. One less director too.

The smaller M-class clones presented in another thread seem to be the better choice to me. What does this design offer the smaller cannot?

The need to test the 115mm DP turret at sea requires a new build ship so it was decided to convert the sixth Mendoza. This gives a year sea-time to work out the bugs. The old 950ton DD could not be used. She will later become the Flotilla Leader of the first 1933 Class Project 412 group. Of course if needs must 130mm guns can be fitted.
