AWNR: Japan

- Unusual activity at Kure.
Since a few days, there has been some unusual activity at the Kure Navy Yard. Many crates arrived in various sizes and moved into one of the store buildings. Rumors have it that it is ammunition and stores for the ship that lies nearby in the harbor, HIJMS Nagato. While not officially completed yet, it is believed that the ship is already fueled and the ammunition is hauled aboard during the night thus not hindering the workers during the day. According to some of AWNR’s sources, there is a large possibility that the ship will become operational within a week.

- Japan Sightseeing Tip: Yagishiri-To Firing Range.
Yagishiri-To is the best known of the five firing ranges of Japan. People often visit nearby Teuri-To, less than five kilometers from Yagishiri-To, in order to catch a glimpse of the shooting. Though the firing range is mainly used by the cruisers and destroyers, sometimes a battleship will go there as well. There are specially organized boat trips toward Yagishiri-To to get a better view of this spectacle. Prizes for a one and a half hour trip range from 250 yen to 800 yen (about 2.15-6.95 US dollars), depending on the season and the type of ships present. Naturally, the price is high when a battleship is present.
