April 7
Today at the Arsenal Esteban de Luca in Cordoba, Teniente Coronel (Lt. Colonel) Alfredo Baisi revealed the prototype of the new T-3M36 Leopard tank to selected members of the government, the Army and foreign correspondents. Lt. Col Baisi revealed three mild steel prototypes without turrets had been undergoing mechanical trials since last November. Another six fully armed prototypes will be built for testing. The T-3M36 is designed to be armed with a 75mm gun with armour 35-15mm thick and powered by a licence-built FIAT 250hp diesel.

April 11
The Army has begun firing trials with several foreign automatic rifles from the USA and Europe for competitive trials to find a modern rifle with which to equip the Army when funds become available. The Inspector General of Weapons placed orders with the following firms to supply a batch of 5 semi-auto rifles each for firing and durability tests; Solothurn Kar. 35(S), Johnson semi-auto 7.92mm x 57 and the STPR-36 Radichkov 7.92mm x 57.

April 26
The FMA I.Ae 8 three-seat touring aircraft designed for the export market flew for the first time today. It is powered by an imported Gipsy Major engine and the pilot, Captain de Aero Marraca, was delighted with the first flight commenting on the good manoeuvrability and ease of handling.

Bulgaria (and their Swiss manufacturing partners) immediately ship five Radichkov rifles in the requested caliber. Bulgaria will also pass along one of the production STPR-36s, chambered for 7.5 Schmidt-Rubin, to demonstrate how the Swiss quality, accuracy, and reliability has carried over into production rifles. :D

May 6
The Commando de Aviacion Naval Argentina today announced that they have placed an order for twelve Supermarine Sea Otter seaplanes to be delivered later this year for use aboard its cruisers from Vickers-Supermarine.

May 16
Today the two newest destroyers built in Argentina, the Capitan Tejada and the Lynch, have been formally commissioned into the Navy after satisfactorily completing builders trials.

May 17
Today is Navy Day and the Navy’s ships and bases are open to the public. The cruiser Nueve de Julio and the destroyers Simon Bolivar and Buchardo were open for public tours while two Project 611 patrol boats ferried parties around Bahia Blanca for sightseeing tours of the lines of warships fully dressed in flags and their crews in pressed white uniforms. Chile sent the light cruisers Antofagasta and Atacama, and the heavy cruiser Volcan Osorno to join the celebrations at Bahia Blanca. The Commando de Aviacion Naval Argentina made several impressive aerial displays and flypasts across many harbour towns today. Also many bases and towns held memorial services for those brave sailors who died during the recent war and President Garcia laid a reef on the Navy Memorial at Comodoro Rividavia.

May 20
Today the cruiser Almirante Storni, the carrier Independencia, the light cruiser Espora and the brand-new destroyers Capitan Tejada and Lynch arrived at Valparaiso to take part in Chile’s Navy Day tomorrow which celebrates the anniversary of the Battle of Inquique. Informal meetings and discussions took place aboard Independencia during the evening between naval and aerial officers of both nations.

June 1
Today the two newest destroyers built in Argentina, the Capitan Tejada and the Lynch, have been formally joined the 2nd Destroyer Squadron at Bahia Blanca. Both ships are 1936 Class destroyers with an armament of six 115mm DP guns and 600mm torpedo tubes and are suitable for both escort and attacking enemy warships.

June 25
The FMA I.Ae 9, designed as a two-seat racing aircraft with a secondary mail plane role, flew today for the first time at FMA’s Cordoba facility. The first flight was brief and the pilot’s visibility was criticised but no technical problems were encountered. It is hoped to set several time/speed records with this plane later this year if testing goes well. Aeroposta Argentina S.A. has so far not made any formal orders for any more of these planes in mail plane configuration.
