Rome Revue 12th Oct

12th October Iberia has finally confirmed her order for aircraft from Italian manufacturer AII. This includes 50 T1 type bombers and 100 F1 type fighter aircraft. Deliveries of these aircraft to the Regia Aeronautica commenced last month with very positive comments about their qualities. The aircraft are intended for Iberia’s new aircraft carriers, when they complete.

Rome Revue 15th October

15th October During a long distance training flight over the desert, 1 of the 3 Ca 47s developed engine trouble
and landed at an oasis near to Tripoli. Much to the crew's horror a thick layer of oil was covering the pool. They were rescued the next day and the crew reported their find. The following week a survey team arrived and found large deposits of oil. Cooperation to exploit this discovery was announced between Iberia Oil, which operates in the Caribbean, and Italian Petroleum.

Rome Revue 24th October

24th October With elections held across Italy, the current conservative government has held onto its lead over the fascist and communist parties. The fascist party was of course dramatically under strength due to the none standing of their leader, Mussolini. However the current government only held onto its lead by a small majority over the Fascists. The communist party’s results were poor with only 5% of the vote. Grassroots support for the fascists is high and there are already allegations of vote tampering, so we may see another election soon, and possibly a compromise government between both the fascists and conservatives.

An unnamed government source handed this to our newspaper after being persuaded it would be in the country's best interests.

Okay, Ill bite.

Dimensions - 225x31mx9.5m, BC 0.6

Armament - 16x38cm/40, 12x15.2cm

Armor - 28cm belt, 12cm deck, 35cm main battery turret

Top speed - 22 kts

It seems to work, and I understand the attraction of all those guns, but the speed is too low, and she's a bit thin-skinned.

I suspect this is what Italian Naval Intelligence would like for us to believe is under construction...

You are very very close with those stats Admiral.... but are you close enough?

Would Italy really retreat to 22knts after the 28knt Caracciolo's? That armour seems a little thin as well.

Precisely.

This is exactly why Russo-French Naval Intelligence suspects this design is a deception attempt.

Atlantian Intelligence has info that contradicts the current Italian news sources. We concur with our Russian and French counterparts.

If this isn't what is being built, then what is?

Something that is not quite legal perhaps?
I wouldn't be surprised if you were able to lift those turrets out and replace them with turrets with heavier caliber guns...
... after all, while we may not mount guns bigger than 15 inch on our ships, there is no limit to the caliber size we are allowed to use for coastal batteries.
