With only a week to go before the general election, things are hotting up on the hustings, with all the parties concentrating on the constituencies that were close last time round.

The latest opinion polls, have the Conservative party in lead by 9 points, but they are not assuming anything at this stage. "We were caught out at the last election, and it's a case of 'Once beaten, twice shy!'" quipped a party worker.
