Plans for the Mexican Navy 1933-1935+

Might as well...

Early 1933 will be taken up by finishing the two US built Cruisers and buying two sulprus Atlantean Cruisers.

After that the plan is to buy 6 US Destroyers, a battleship (hopefully not the one the Peruvians are buying) and two battlecruisers. Plus any ships which come into the market.

The two Liners bought from the US will be rebuilt into Landing Ships.

There will be very few new built ships, a couple of submarines, a couple of CDS, and later on a Cruiser to escort my CVL, and a couple of Heavy Cruisers to replace the BCs. If the money is available a class of destroyers will be built.

So what's the envisioned order of battle in, say, 1936? Just in terms of types. No point sending us into a frenzy with specific classes just yet.

I'd kinda think that Mexico would put a little more emphasis on getting a cruiser companion for its carrier - until that happens, her squadron won't really be complete.

What's the timetable for the CAs replacing the BCs? If we're talking five to six years after you buy the BCs, I may have to reach in and give your ear a sharp yank.

The other question would be what infrastructure you'll be adding to support these acquisitions.

First off I dont have the problem of a top heavy fleet, having but 7 ships over 1,500 tons of which only one is over 7,500 tons. I also have plenty of destroyers, patrol boats, minewarfare crafts, ASW Launches, and MTBs. Im also trying to minimise the number of calibers in my fleet, Im getting rid of even the 4" guns.

The BCs, and the BB are stopgap solutions. Im buying them mainly because they are very cheap (small) and available as of 1933-4, eventually Ill probably buy a couple of 14" BBs for the battleline.

The planned OOB at 1936 will have the following:

Gulf of Mexico,
1 BB
1 BC
1 CB
4 CLs (Thrasius)
12 DDs (US)

Pacific,
1 BC
1 CVL
4 CLs (Columbias)
9+ DDs (Nordmark)

Building or Planned:
2 CAs (with 10" guns) (will replace the BCs)
1 CC (carrier escort)
? BBs (used) (will replace the BB)

Note it doesnt contain all the small warships.

This places my smaller, slower ships on the Gulf side, with my larger DDs, and CLs, and the carrier on the Pacific side. The CAs when finished will probably go on the Pacific side. I dont have a timetable for the CAs but I estimate 2-3 years to build them.

As for infrastructure, one of the BCs, the CVL, and the CAs, will require Type 3 docks. What will I build? Anything I can get the US and Atlantis to build for me. Hopefully two Type 3 docks, one on each side, and another factory.

18 IP is a fair commitment - are the USA and Atlantis going to pony up for that?

Hopefully...

Well I already have 2 Type 2 Docks which can be upgraded, but now that you mention it they are the only large Docks I have so Ill have to get some more. My main problem is the I dont have enough factories, Mexico despite having the Third largest population in all of America happens to have the smallest number of factories, behind even Peru and Columbia. And Mexico had a larger navy than those two.

Just to show how fast things change.

Of the BB (Fatih Sultan Mehmed) and 2 BCs (Oscar II, ther shall remain unamed) planned, all have been scratched from the list. Im still considering purchasing a different BB (Poseidon). The laying down date for the 2 CAs(Villa) has been pushed foward and the Carrier Escort Cruiser has been canceled.

From 1934 to 1936 the plan is to build the two CAs and buy any interesting ships I can find. Thats about it. However it is liable to change.

Probable OOB 1936:

Gulf of Mexico,
1 BB ??
1 CB
4 CLs (Thrasius)
12 DDs (US)

Pacific,
2 CA
1 CVL
4 CLs (Columbias)
9+ DDs (Nordmark)
