joint Press Release of the French and German Governments - 26 October

"The initial meeting of the French and German governments has uncovered large areas of mutual agreement. Their analysis of the course of future developments if the present situation regarding the reparations question is allowed to continue is the same: The financial imbalances caused by the present scale of German reparations will manifest themselves in political developments of an increasingly radical nature, both in Germany and in France.

Discussions concerning the solution of this mutual problem are taking place in a calm atmosphere, each side showing understanding and concern regarding the situation and interests of the other."
