New ships for Atlantis 1926

In late 1925 the CV Alioth was laid down to replace the elderly Siboney, while the CL Ares class cruisers will replace the elderly Brencis and Nereus class cruisers now scrapped. The R-62 class coastal sub is a new design that will be used with the Efficax class multi purpose sub support ships.

Uh? What layout do you envision? A nd B turrets with 3, C and D turrets with two guns? Triples over twins? And only 3 raised guns?

Nice catch Hoo, that's a big SNAFU on my part. The layout is acctually 2 twins super imposed over triples.

Ah, I see... A nice cruiser. Similar in size to some of my designs but heavier armed. I dislike mixed mounts but if it fits your needs. I wonder what kind of salvo system you will use to find the range? Half salvos with 5 guns each? 3-3-4 shells per salvo?

The carriers bc seems somewhat low but CVs seem to be that way in WesWorld.

How many planes to you plan to have on that ship?

5

Tuesday, February 1st 2005, 10:16am

Never really gave much thought to the salvo system but I'm sure it wil be the same as the Italians used with the Abruzzi class CL's. the mixed mounts are a result of trying to compromise between maximum number of guns, armor and speed.

The Carrier hopefully will carry 48 planes. Her low BC will likely not be repeated in following Carrier designs.

What do you think of the Subs?

I'm editing the CL's stats likely as you read this responce.

Regarding subs - not sure. Lots of guns for a small coastal vessel....

I really don´t like how SS sims submarines so I can´t realy judge them. If not forced to use SS for WesWorld I wouldn´t simulate any submarines with it at all. :o/

I would think 4x3 21 inch. Guess Wes was a bit too eager to enter that data.

I like the carrier; good to see what other folks are doing with ships similar in size to Urumi. This seems like a well balanced design.

The CL's perhaps a smidgen slow, but otherwise nice, and I appreciate the 10 gun design even if I wouldn't replicate it.

Brain....cells......frizzled......must....consintrate!!!! Arrrgggg!!

Yes she has 12x21" TT's, and her slow speed is a result of changing the number of raised guns to the proper ammount and keeping her strength at 1.00 or higher.

She is now (hopefully) 100% complete.....

Not entirely needed, but...

Speaking of photon torpedoes....the old USS Defiant (NCC-1764) is scheduled to be seen again in "Enterprise".

Atlantis has Photon torpedoes?

I suppose they have 1000kg warheads on them too... ; )

Is it possible to sim a torpedo?

Nah, a photon torpedo is sure to be a 'shinny thang' and he'll go for that.

On the Enterprise we'll be hearing

"It's worse than that, we're dead Jim..."

The photon torpedes are about to be shelved...

Star Trek: Enterprise has been cancelled. Last episode is due around May 13.

Better take notes for those Atlantian heavy escorts....
