Historically, they were scrapped long before now, so I'm facing three choices with them;
1) Scrap, proceede with a new cruiser programme
2) Modest rebuild, employ as training cruisers
3) Full rebuild
The graphic I put together is using components from the Dian (St. Laurent) class, and probably represents a full modernization. Compared to that class, it has two less 4" guns, two less twin 20mm, and no torpedoes. I could make room to put on the 4" and 20mms, but I'm wondering if that'd make her overweight.
I don't like the 5.5" layout, but having a superfiring turret forward would be too heavy, I think. I also don't like going from ten guns, to six, but I don't think there's space, or weight, for triple turrets (or 4 twin), considering they're smaller than the 6-gun St. Laurent class.
I could move the aft turrets further aft for more midships deck space if needed, but I wasn't sure it would be wise to have the two turrets so far aft. I may put torpedos on the quarterdeck, or move the turrets aft, and place them midships.
