Refit of RHNS Georgios Averof

On the middle 30s Greece start a program for the refit & reclass of the old armoured cruiser "Georgios Averof" (laid down 1910) as a Heavy Cruiser & Trainning ship!!!

The main requirements are:
Replacement of the main armament (2x2x9,2") with 2X3X8" guns
Replacement of secondary armament (4x2x7,5") with
4x2x4" double porpose guns
Addition of secondary A/A armament
Conversion of the coal firing engines to oil firing engines & increase of the speed from 23 kts to 26 kts at least!
Reconstruction of the bow
Reconstruction & reduction of the 3 funnels to 2 or 1
Installation of new range finding & communication systems.

I have a pre-plan of how the ship is going to look after the refit but i would like some more sugestions from you guys!
Any help is acceptable!!!

Here´s a fast kitbash i did of an Averof partial modernisation. Bow modified as Swedens Manligheten, some boilers repleced with oilfired, the 2 fore funnels trunked together, light guns replaced with 40mm and 20mm anti aircraftguns.

Pic by Navarchos, modiefied by me with Navarchos parts.

I made this kitbash retaining the orginal guns, im not sure that a twin 9,2 inch(23,4cm) barbette can hold a
triple 8 inch(20,3cm) turret. But it can still be a good training ship both for coal stokers and oil stokers, cadets and junior officers, and also retaining a combat capability.

A new look of G.Averof

I agree with Johan that the the twin 9,2'' barbette can't house a Triplet 8" turret so i reduse them to 2 8" guns per turret!
I replace the 4 twin turret on the sides of 7,5" with 4 twin of 4" double porpose guns!
4 twin 40mm A/A guns installed at the sides!
On the top of the main guns turrets installed 2 quadruplet 7,92mm A/A MGs
New fire directors & communications system also installed
Also replaced the old coal firing boilers with new oil firing which in combination with the bow reconstruction gave plus 4 kts
With the new boilers it became possible to reduce the 3 funnels to 1 big funnel

Guys still i'm not pleased from the look of the forward mast...any sugestions???

Sorry for the deay, here's my offering. The only displacement I could find didn't say what it was, so I made it normal. As it's a school ship I added twin beam TT's for the trainees. Overall not a bad design.

Some corrections

Thanks for the help eltf177 but don't you think that there is not enough space to instal 12(6x2) 40mm A/A & 12 20mm A/A guns( exept on the FWD & AFT of the main guns on main deck)
Also the ship has only 2 shafts and no 4
For the twin T/T we can make some spase between the double 4" guns and house them there!

Agreed on deck space, number should be cut back.

I found Conway's and you're right, only 2 shafts.

I'll do some repairs and repost...
