RfP Bombers

The Persian Goverment is issuing the following Request for Proposals for a medium bomber to replace the Mitsubishi Ki-1. The specification is as follows, a bombload of at least 2,500 Kg, a speed of at least 500 Km/h, a combat radius with full load of at least 1350 Km

Neither the US or Germany have any medium bombers that fit all those parameters.

They are fairly demanding specifications for something that could be considered a medium bomber. Closest I could really find that exceeds the specs is the B-42 Mixmaster or the later A-26. With lower speed and bombload there are more possibilities like the B-26, B-25 or Do-217.

It might be a bit too demanding, strange since i based it on the PZL P.49

Its the speed that does it, the bombers that are that fast usually have much smaller bombloads.

The RSAF has nothing in their stocks that could answer that request. Only the B-14 bomber has such bomb load and range but is clearly much slower - and is far from being a medium bomber in size, costs and appearance.

If Persia is to rethink their demands the RSAF might be able to offer some Haviks or Marauders - all combat tested and bugs worked out.

China has the Guoyong G-25B, but it has a lower payload (only 1800kg), but it fits the other requirements (speed / range).

Send in the closest aircraft you can get to the mentioned specifications

PZL has the PZL P.37 Loos bomber, which was introduced in 1936. Speed is 445km/h, range is 1500km with bombload, while bombload is 2580kg. The PZL P.49 begins development in 1938, which should match your specifications, although it won't be available until late 1939/early 1940.

I should point out that it doesnt say range but combat radius

So you want a range of 2700km at full load? For a medium bomber?

13

Well, actually its a bit more since combat radius includes 10-15 min over the target and reserves for aircombat...

I see. Good luck.... We are still in 1937, right?

So you essentially want a 3,000 km range at full load? Why not buy a squadron of heavy bombers then? And what tactical targets is Persia planning on bombing that is 1,350km away from its closest airfield?

Well as I said the specs might need some tweaking... As for targets well I have big neighbours...

Big neighbours require big bombers. :D

The US has the B-25 and B-26, both still in their test phases and not yet adopted by the USAAC. If Persia would prefer a more proven design, the US has the A-20.
