Romanian Request

Romania currently has two tank regiments armed with FT-17 and AT-17 attached to two of its infantry divisions.

With these tanks becoming quite obsolete, the Romanian government is looking to replace them with:

120 new tanks (60 per regiment) with the following attributes:

20 to 60 mm main gun,
2 MG of 7.92mm

Armor from 50mm to 80mm

Speed of up to 20mph.

Atlantis can offer for imediate transfer the following tank designs.

AT-33 "Sentinel II"
AT-27 "Sentinel"
AT-32 "Rapier"

The Sentinel II fits the requirements most out of all three designs. However limited numbers of AT-35 "Sabres" can be offered, at least initially, a design which meets and exceeds most of the requirements issued.

AT-34's can also be offered in limited numbers, though they do not meet the armour or MG requirments they do exceed the speed requirements and meet the minimum armament requirement.

Germany can offer the Panzer IIIC, fitted with the 50mm L60 gun and 3 7.92mm MGs (2 coaxial, 1 in the hull front). Weight is just under 20 tons, and armor is close to that requested (turret front is 50mm, hull front is 40mm).\

[Got to wonder about that Dutch tank, the 13.2mm HMG, while an excellent weapon vs trucks and light armor, isn't at it's best versus infantry due to the low rate of fire.]

Romania, I seem to remember that they ordered new tanks from Italy a while back. The export tank design that put a turreted 47mm on top of the semovente hull.

Those tanks are going to serve in the Armoured Division.

These tanks Romania wants to serve with the infantry. Eventually, Romania would like four regiments of infantry support tanks, although 2 will suffice for now.

This is a product of the review on the army (which is not yet out), and basically the government is trying to satisfy the infantry school, who want the tanks with them, and the cavalry school who want the tanks in separate divisions.

The obvious answer is to buy more of the same as they meet the specs. Its probably possible to shoehorn in a 75mm gun in the hull as well to give better support.

Seeing as Romania is reviewing future alliances it should reveiw what the nations in those potential alliances are using and pick a similar type in an effort to standardize.

You know, every time I see that Danish tank, I think of the British light tanks like the FV101 Scorpions...

After much deliberation, the Romanian General Staff has announced the decision to purchase 120 AT-33s.

Looks like the AT-33 production line just got a new lease on life! Atlantis is pleased that Romania picked their design.

Hmm, Bribery?

180 turn in policy? I don't see it. Ever since I've started playing Bulgaria, there've been fair to good relations with Romania. It's the sane voice of the PRJ, after all.

Romania doesn't quite follow these accusations?

We still think we are quite neutral, and have made purchases from all major European alliances.

In other words, in regards to future foreign policy, Romania is quite happily sitting on the fence.

Although one good push could send her into either AEGIS or FAR/Turkey/Bulgaria.

Poland is almost offended at that.

We think we are quite sane now, after our recent bout of insanity. Why, we've even managed to get let out of the padded room, although we still aren't allowed sharp objects. :D

Its not a news report, so IMHO its all OOC.

What would you call cozying uo to Bulgars and Turks while planning to stab your ally Yugoslavia?
