I know, but it's better that the ship should go down hard than to go down after the deck is penetrated on the first hit and the round blows up in one of the forward magazine and pretty much blows the ship in half, don't you think?

Oh, just a note, executor means executioner in Portuguese instead of a person who settles a will as is the case in English.

Planned ship names are as follows:
Executor
Obliterar
Partir
Destruição
Rasgar
Falência
Fracassar
Subjugar
Aniquilar
Extirpar

Most of the names you submitted are in fact verbs, but even those who are names would sound strange as ship names(the only word of the list I can see being used is Destruição). Some of the words would sound downright silly(Falência - Bankrupcy).

There is a site(in Portuguese) with a list of Brazilian warships. The site doesn't have much information on the ships themselves(information on Brazilian warships is rather scarce, even - or specially - in Portuguese), but there is a long list of names there:

http://www.naviosdeguerrabrasileiros.hpg….br/Letras2.htm

I assume you don't have a dial-up connection - the list is quite long.

Edit1: Typo fixed

Edit2: Oh, by the way, Executor can also mean someone who executes an order, or executes a debt(I think the word in English would be foreclosure)

I looked up the names on Answers.com, they provide translations in multiple languages. The English equivalent to that list, at least according to Answers is the following:

Executioner
Obliterate
Sunder
Destruction
Rend
Ruin
Shatter
Subjugate
Annihilate
Extirpate

Of course, since your Portuguese is obviously a whole lot better than mine, I invite you to come up with a list that would follow Executor and make sense.

Most of the above are verbs and should be nouns,

e.g.

Executioner
Obliterate -> Obliterator
Sunder -> Sunderer
Destruction -> Destructor
Rend -> none
Ruin -> Ruiner
Shatter -> Shatterer
Subjugate -> Subjugator
Annihilate ->Annihilator
Extirpate ?

The names are all a bit strange. Naming things after rivers or other geograhical features is always a good bet.

Well, I abandoned the Executor naming scheme and instead went to bird of prey.

Falcão (Falcon)
Águia (Eagle)
Açor (Goshawk)
Lebreiro (Harrier)
Harpia (Harpy)
Coruja (Owl)
Noctívago (Nighthawk)
Busardo (Kite)
Condor

Sounds much better and less cheesy....

Here's the modified cruiser. Hoo will be pleased to note that its BC is now 0.500, as are all the cruiser designs that I have in the works. Of course, it was necessary for the refit program I have in mind for the Almirante Barroso and Sagitário classes. Btw, that's why I didn't use admiral's names, gral, since they were taken up by another class.

Actually, I saw your other designs at Warship Projects before I saw the new names for this class, so I knew what happened to the admiral names.
