So...how do our rules reflect the use of Pykrete?
Because you bloody well know it's got to be built and it's going to be built...
Hey! Stop leaking Top Secret Aussie CV plans!
That picture of Habbakuk is completely wrong btw. She would actually look nothing like that.
She was powered by electric motors in external pods and a refridgeration plant kept her cool. I can't remember if it was diesel or steam pp.
This is a better drawing by MW Williams.

Better start now, because with our build rules it will take a very VERY long time....
If we take the 1,800,000 tons as given in that picture, you'll need 1809 months to build it using our rules. That's 150 years and 9 months to build it.
...did I mention VERY long?
I think that by the time it is finished, no one will know why their ancestors decided to build it. Quite likely that once it is completed, it will be obsolete.
It would be roughly half way done by the current date OTL (2007). 73 years down, 77 years and 9 months to go!
Heh, looks like modular construction will be the way to go then.
...but our economy assumes refined metals. Wouldn't pykrete be quicker and cheaper...?
Technically it would be free, considering it uses natural resources and timber industry byproducts (sawdust and ice), something canada has alot of...
I agree though modular would be the way to go to speed things up but even then its a HUGE project not to mention the fact that it didn't get built to ful scale. Certainly some problems would have surfaced when engine pods and such were to be attached to the hull.
Oh dear....
Newfangled Airship Carrier is a coming!
Like I said...
