Heh one of those prancing elf ninny's managed to take out , what, 3 elephants?! Emagine what two platoons of em could do!

I think a certain dwarf would disagree with you there as the prancing elf ninny took out just one Oliphaunt/Mûmak and that still only counts as one!

Quoted

Those ARE Teenage Mutant Elephants!
plus they are from Japan...They must be NINJAs !

They're wrinky of old age and they are Oliphaunts or Mûmakil... so you get...
"Ancient Mutant Oliphaunt Ninja"...
... a.k.a. AMON...
... also spelled as Amun...
... or Amun-Ra...
... Ra...
... Ra?!?

... so those Ancient Mutant Oliphaunt Ninja are in reality Goa'uld System Lords!
... and that would explain the strange ring-like object the Japanese explorers found on Antarctica.

While he's not visible in part 1, there goes Frodo in part 2... though with a different scream.

Ithekro dont!!!

The Kongos are wandering around in N-verse and we certainly dont want them to find their way back! You run the risk of creating a wormhole by having the Rohan nobility pay a visit to Wesworld!

Walter - I like big elephants and all, but not as much as I like being able to read without having to scroll sideways. Could you smoosh the picture down somewhat, please?

Odd, I have no problems with it. Fits perfectly on the screen.

It happens to the best of us. And it lets the other folks know that SATSUMA is constantly Up To Something.

What, people don't already know that? I mean the Dutch are perfectly willing to inform them !

That is true...

Anyway, the TIDE report, once public, will generate a fair bit of scrutiny in Hyderabad. Another good news post.

I expect there will be items which are pleasing, and some that are displeasing. More of the former. However the darn report got away from me and is 3 pages long on it's lonesome and not done. So I need to boil it down to a summary. When I get to April that is, first I need to get out of January.

Unless the report does indeed say, "turn them loose and invite the Indians in", some of it's bound to be displeasing. But the French initiative in Indochina wasn't even close to that, and it led to some significant changes in French/SATSUMA relations.

So I shall wait and see what comes out of the report - even if it does turn out to be three pages.

The rest of January...

January 9th, The Amsterdam Advocate
The coast defense vessel Groningen her accompanying gunboats arrived in Aseb today and will immediately commence convoys of friendly vessels. The Transport Nicobar later in the week with a small marine security team, and will provide more accommodation room. A oceanic tug with a minesweeper in tow is also scheduled to arrive at the end of the week.

January 10th, The Vlissengen Verisimilitude
Fokker aircraft took advantage of a break in the weather today to put the new T.V aircruiser through its paces. Two versions of the T.V were flown, one with twin air cooled radial engines and one with two liquid cooled engines. The radials have more horsepower, but have greater frontal area and require larger engine nacelles resulting in more drag.

While the T.V. is hoped to fill the need for a maritime bomber to supplement the T.IVa seaplane, the primary role is expected to be over land where its heavy defensive armament and high speed will allow flights of T.V. to operate independent of escort. This would allow them to either conduct deep strikes or loiter over a battlefield seeking targets of opportunity. Many of these theories have not been able to be tested before this, as no bomber has been available that could quite measure up.

January 26th, The Hauge Herald
The military conflict between the Sultanate of Yemen and the Empire of India has been brought to a close through the good graces of the British Government. The Sultan of Yemen has made a wise bargain in the interests of his state and people. The Kingdom of Saud did not take this opportunity to reach an accommodation with the Empire of India, and one can expect the full fury of the Indian horde to be brought to bear on the desert nomads. Once again, Pax Britannia rules.

Not quite the same as the Mongol hordes of old, but the Mughals have had to adapt to the times.

Regarding the first item - is there a lack of oceangoing minesweepers in Dutch service?

I wasn't quite sure where the Dutch were escorting convoys to, just that they wanted to.

Convoying is only a good idea if there are significant threats. Simply changing to convoys makes you lose about 20% of your possible transport because they are less efficient.
