USA News Q2/31

Somewhat abbreviated from the usual...

Thursday, April 23rd
Second Airdock completed in Akron, Ohio. The second dock is intended as a maintenance facility, while construction goes on in the first. Work continues on the Los Angeles facility, with completion expected later in 1931.

Friday, May 1st
Construction of the Empire State Building is completed in New York City.

Saturday, June 13th
At a speech to the National Committee for Modification of the Volstead Act, meeting in NYC, Pres. Roosevelt calls for the end of Prohibition, calling it a failed experiment with disastrous consequences for the entire nation. Roosevelt calls on Congress to pass a Constitutional Amendment to repeal the 18th Amendment. It appears that repealing Prohibition will be a major aspect of his 1932 reelection campaign and popular support for his efforts are growing as gangsterism and smuggling continue to increase.

Tuesday, June 23rd
Wiley Post and Harold Gatty take off from Hazelhurst Field, Long Island in an attempt to accomplish the first round-the-world flight in a single-engine plane...

Not necessarily. The USN is a dry service and will continue to be even after prohibition ends, that is if Canis elects to follow historical USN policies.

I would guess that, for that reason, Atlantis would support the 18th Amendment.

You're suggesting that Japan should use its secret booze room to get the US sailors drunk??
