Canadian Never-weres

Proposed Chester class rebuild. Deemed economically unsound given the age and limited size of the class.

Manitoba class design proposals Ia and Ib; Larger design than subsequent proposals. Design Ia attempted to relocate aircraft facilities further forward. Concept not pursued in further proposals.

Manitoba class design propsal IIa; Brief consideration given towards quad turrets, approach abandoned as difficulties with quad mountings were uncovered.

Manitoba class design proposal IIIb; Alternate consideration given towards disposition of forward guns.

Labrador class design proposal 1a; Original design with previous model of 5.5" DP turrets as used on the Argyll class. Decision was made to proceede with a design that incorporated the newer automatic DP guns, at the expense of the wing turrets.
