Chinese heavy tank

After the disastrous performance of the heavy tanks in the persian war, the CADO decided to focus on the main tank producer in China and gave him the oportunity to present a heavy tank, which meets the new requirements.

Requirements:
In contrast to the requirements before the Persian war, where the heavy tank was still regarded as a support vehicle, the new type will now be considered as a pure battle tanks, is meant to provide paroli against opposing standard models.

Apart from the main weapon of the requirement profile was similar to that of the middle tank; the crew should consist of five men, a radio system should allow communication on the battlefield and the total weight of 45 tons should take into account the maximum bridge load.

A diesel engine should be used to minimize the risk of fire ignition of the engine.

After years of development, supported by Japanese technicians, Tung Meng now presented their new heavy tank 55SP6. The first prototypes are subjected to extensive testing on the training area near Wuhan.

My only comment is that the gun barrel of the tank appears to be too long for an L48.

Otherwise, it looks like a Chinese clone of the FAR TT-37 heavy, even to the design of the running gear. *Shrugs.*

Feng Bao

Feng Bao:
super heavy tank

This tank was designed, with the experiences gained in the development of Shuiniu, as the general staff searched for a tank with heavy armament for combating fortified positions and bunkers. To meet this demand, the tower was greatly enlarged to accommodate a shortened 10,5 cm artillery gun. The very high silhouette of the vehicle required now increased armor on the turret in order to withstand the expected bombardment. So the combat weight of the tank increased to almost 62 tonnes and the top speed dropped down under 30 km/h.

How useful such a vehicle can be used and whether the desired requirements are met, will show the tests. For this reason, only 7 prototypes have been built so far, which are tested at the Army test site near Wuhan.

Specifications:
crew: 6 (Driver, gunner, loader, second loader, radio-operator, commander)
weight: 61,4 metric tons
armament: 10,5 cm SBG-4-1 with 36 rounds, 2x MGs with 2200 rounds
engine: V-12 diesel-engine, 600 hp
speed: on-road= 25 Km/h
range: 190 Km
armor:
hull front = 120 mm
hull sides = 100 mm
hull rear = 60 mm
hull downside = 20 mm
hull topside = 25 mm
turret front = 130 mm
turret sides = 100 mm
turret rear = 65 mm
turret topside = 30 mm

The KV-2 cometh.
You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

With China now engaged in a major confrontation with its neighbor, one must wonder how many separate development programs it can afford to proceed with. While this particular vehicle shares elements of its design with other Chinese tanks, its weight and expense suggests that it will have a poor return on the investment.
