September 16th 1940 The railroad line between Penshawar and the Afghani city of Jalahabad was inaugurated today with the arrival of a cargo train from the port city of Karachi. The line is the first line completed into a major city in Afghanistan. A similar project linking the Baluchi capital of Quetta with the city of Kandahar is on hold due to the current events in the region.

October 4th 1940 The Consortium Bharati Petroleums announced today the discovery of oil in the region of Gujarat. The actual discovery was made late last year but the announcement was put on hold until claims were verified.

At this time if was not reported the exact location of the findings for security purposes but according to sources "they could be as large as the ones in Assam."

No doubt the discovery will help the Bharati economy. However, I do no think that the world's major oil producers need worry; the Digboi oilfield in Assam peaked at 7,000 barrels a day, and that for a short period before declining.
