A concept that was in my mind for some time.
Taking the idea of F-16 to the extreme.

Berlin 1973

Volksjager/Lekki Mysliwiec/Spolecne bojovník
A joint DDR CSSR PRL* project for a light fighter craft.

This plane was design when it became evident that new Soviet planes are too complex to build domestically.
It was to have better horizontal manoeuvrability that MiG-17 and higher trust to weight that MiG-19.
Armed with two 23mm cannons.

This plane is so simple and cheap that in the next projected conflict 7 of those can be build for each F-15.
A numerical superiority fighter.
Two men variant will be the next advanced trainer for the Warsaw Pact.

It looks really sharp... as in, pointy. Can you actually fit a plan in there? ?(

Top view looks like they borrowed the wings from an A-4 Skyhawk.

"fit a plan"?

The wings are more from Hunter, but now that You pointed out the Skyhawk, yeah they do look similar.
Plus those two planes are of similar size.

Sorry, "fit a plane" inside.

If it's the same size as the A4 Skyhawk, well, that was a rather more chunky plane. This one looks like an F104 Lawn-dart, er, F104 Starfighter.

I'd compare it more to a Mirage F1 than a Skyhawk, myself.

The same plane from before. Version 2.0.

This plane is to replace MiG-17 ,19 and early MiG-21.

Yes I know it looks like a F-16.
I used MiG-29 and Su-27 as base, however single engine on a plane with smooth fuselage to wing transition will give you that.(I have no idea what the correct English name for that configuration is)

I think I'd go with the MiG Ye-8 which was heavily based on the MiG-21. I'd drop the canard and go with reduced sweep wings instead of the delta to give a bit more manoeuverability. It's still simple and cheap like the MiG-21, but has a useful radar for making more effective intercepts, and more manoeuverability for WVR combat. A more prominent canopy with better rear visibility would also be nice.

I've never seen the Mig Ye-8, but a quick search was sufficient to demonstrate that it looks nifty.

It was a nice design but the Russians decided to go with the bigger MiG-23 which offered better ground attack capability.

It was my understanding that shorter take of was why MiG-23 was chosen.

@Vukovlad interesting APC.
Sd.Kfz. 251 with out the front part?

The main reason the Ye-8 was abandoned was the unreliable Metskhvarishvili R-21-300 turbojet. Also its S-23 weapon system was probably a touch too early for reliable use then. It is still one of the better looking Soviet fighters IMHO.

SB-60

Fantasy nation advance trainer-light attack plane.
At third world plane.
The design process dragged on for 13 years.
In 1947 it was too be first generation jet fighter.
By the time this plane was finished only way for this it too be useful was to make it a advance trainer.
Although compared to other contemporary aircraft's it was considered a poor design. Heavy and under power, in non the less was in production for 27 years. It was robust and reliable.
With the shortage of more potent planes it was used in its original intended role as a fighter.
In those engagements it had a 4:1 kill ratio versun fixed winged combat planes.
That however spoke more of skill of its pilots that anything else.
Over 1300 build.
