Dorsal is on the top of the fuselage, ventral is underneath. I think the turret is around the correct size. What about merging it with the aft of the cockpit for putting some handheld guns there like the Ju 88? A ventral gondola with free mounting is probably period-appropriate.

B-14A

I dont know how much closer to the Wellington turret I can come in this size

Thanks a lot Vukoflad. The ventral turret now is fine on the B-14A.

On the lower MG mount: I´m still not satisfies. Neither size nor position seems ideal. I probably will re-write the encyclopedia so that the A-version will need no lower mount but instead will have two MGs in side windows.

So could you make me a version without that lower mount?

C-variant will then need a ball turret and a new nows. You got that latter part quite well on the lower pic. Same for the rear gunners position. According to the text the C-variant got new turrets so that would would be okay.

Thanks again.

Best of the lot so far submitted. I see no problems with this one.

Would like to see the 3V and a scale bar so I can run some Wangs.

You have a better program than planebuilder?

There are many better programs but all are considerably more complicated and most likely cost £1000s for a licence depending on which. Planebuilder more or less works and is free.

I was thinking of free program not something used in actual aircraft design

Yikes, the drag on that thing is AWFUL.

RA, do you agree that you need 900 kW (1250 HP) engines to coax out decent performance?

A very important stat is missing, whats her bomb load capacity?

With that draggy wing and those engines with the range of 3000 kilometers?

1600 kilograms bombload is what I estimate.

I played with a few numbers in planebuilder and it more or less works with the 960hp engines, but would be a nicer fit given higher power engines like the DB601 of around 1100hp. Bomb load for 3000km range seems pretty good at around 2500-3000kg.

Another good option would be the Jumo-211, instead of the DB-600/601.

Heh, there's a reason why WW Germany wasn't interested in putting the Ju-89 or the Do-19 into production. The WW Ju-90 V-4 and V-5 were built with the BMW-139 to try to get more power, but that engine was a failure, so the V-6 is currently being built with BMW-801s, Junkers is hoping to get it into the air by the end of 1936.

I should have of course posted the stats for the B-14 and not for the Ju 89.

B-14 stats SAE encyclopedia:

First Flight: 11.4.1933
Type: Heavy bomber
Power: 4x 960PS 12-cyl.-engine (inline)
Crew: 9
Vmax: 390km/h
Vcruise: 320km/h
Range: 3000km
Weapons: 2200kg bombs, 8 7,62mm MG

I don't think the engines are quite powerful enough for the performance claimed.

No longer having much resemblances to the B-14/Ju89, perhaps a new generation SAE bomber

Well, this one finally what I originally had in mind - just with inline engines. But you´re right. her fuselage has changed a bit. Probably a B-14D/E variant? Or a real follow-on?

Do you also think it looks a lot like a Short Stirling with a different tail?

I will check all drawings again and see what I choose. Thanks again for your help!

New B-14 version

I expect Persia will recive a big rebate on the bomber :D
