Just one really minor nit-pick.......just for clarity

No Irish person uses the shortened form of Patrick "PATTY"

Any Irish male would call himself "Pat or "Paddy", NEVER "Patty".
Even Irish females would use "Pat" as a short form of "Patricia", but NOT "Patty"

It's something that could start a fight.......... :P

Ah. I will fix that. Thanks for the FYI.

I see that you have captured the Pandur spirit.

Excellent development :D

Does make sense to take the fight to the rabble. Their morale seems to be slipping, at least IMO, and this could be the last straw for many of the irregulars. Not even a nice night of sleep.

Everything good so far.

'God's Own Fire And Brimstone'

Ah, the Irish and their ability to conjure up a vision with a modicum of words.

Excellent story; I like the mix of coverage - as it happens, historical post-mortem, and the in-character interview.

I am really looking forward to future installments.

Just a bit of wrapping-up work on the Helmand Campaign today. The next post shall start the next "chapter", if you will: The Plain of the Dead - The Chakhansur Campaign.

Also, we will see soon what the Nationalists are up to. Mwhahaha.

Quite an interesting read.

As an aside, the LON command responsible for LONAFF would receive the following communique from the Yugoslav Government.

"In view of potential widening commitment of field forces in Afghanistan, the Yugoslav Government proposes to make available to LONAFF the remaining assets of No.202 (Troop Carrier) Squadron, doubling its commitment of transport aircraft. Deployment of additional aircraft can begin within seventy-two hours of notification."

The LONAFF command will accept, as the No.202 Squadron has already rendered invaluable assistance to date.

Good story as always. IMO cavalry forces are still useful in this terrain and should not be dismissed. Separated from the armor, yes. But they are capable in difficult terrain and can get to places in a hurry that a motorized force can't get to.

S'truth, and I'll be pointing that out more later, as the League forces gain more experience in combat.

The Yugoslav Government also offers an expansion of its troop contingent if such is required by the tactical situation. A brigade-level task force is available for service, comprising one infantry regiment, one artillery battalion, one motorised reconnaissance squadron, one company of combat engineers and supporting logistics units.

Three parts today. Bruce cooked up the excellent ambush story, and we're working it in to the larger story matrix as a bit of a "sideshow" to the upcoming Chakhansur Campaign.
