Marinestützpunkt Swinemünde, Tuesday, 20 September 1949 Korvettenkapitän Peter Frankenburg was on the bridge of the crane ship Siebengebirge as the harbour pilot conned her into the naval base. He had brought her here in company with Korvettenkapitän Wendisch’s Cunewalde, which was carrying stores and equipment for the burgeoning facility. Tugs warped the Siebengebirge alongside one of the piers that jutted seaward from the port’s main cargo handling area, and after his ship was securely tied up...

New Designs and Refits of the Greek Fleet

Quoted from "thesmilingassassin" Good points, especially #2 (- Recoil effect (Restricted arc if above 1.00): 0,92). This is an easy stat to overlook as we as springsharp users tend to look at stability, seakeeping and hull strength. My guess is that your length to beam ratio is right at 11:1, which makes it a VERY narrow hull, is the cause. You may have to add more beam and/or cut weight, preferably to bring that length to beam ratio down closer to 10:1. Good point Wes. I'd also suggest conside...

New Designs and Refits of the Greek Fleet

This latest iteration is within the rules insofar as I can see. There are some factors that still could be tweeked. 1 - the stem is still at zero. I think you might benefit from some level of positive angle in the bow. 2- the recoil effect of the guns is nearing the point where they would restrict the firing arcs. Perhaps you could consider only three twin mounts with perhaps a 57mm mount replacing out of the 120mm mounts, fore or aft.

New Designs and Refits of the Greek Fleet

Sleep is good. However, I see several items that are, if fact, a violation of our rules. I commend to your reading the Design Rules for Gentlemen The current sim of the Nemea has a Relative cross-sectional hull strength of 0.45, which is a violation of Point 1 of the above. The cited length-beam ratio is cited as 11.67, which is a violation of Point 2 above. I suspect that you will need to alter the block coefficient in order to obtain a result to your satisfaction within these limits.

Training Frigate Roon, Beirut, Monday, 19 September 1949 After departing Byzantium on the 13th of the month Mohr had taken the Roon back through the Dardanelles and along the Turkish coast, calling at Izmir and Iskenderun en route. Now she lay in the harbour of the enticing city of Beirut – an exotic mixture of east and west, French and Levantine. Here, in an allied port, Mohr felt that his crew deserved an opportunity for extended liberty, and had resolved to stay for at least several days. Han...

New Designs and Refits of the Greek Fleet

General impressions: For a destroyer to be built in any numbers, she is large – 2,900 tons each. The question is does she need to be? I believe you can do better. First – you have designed the Nemea with a straight stem; modern designs would have a bow angle of somewhere around 15 degrees. I would suggest that you consider making that change. Second – the deck houses for the main battery have thicker armor than they probably need, given a destroyer’s principal role, and I personally have come to...

Lima, The American Embassy, 28 September 1949 Ambassador Pawley considered the request that lay on his desk quite carefully. The Peruvian Ministry of Defense had requested permission to enter into negotiations with the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation with a view towards purchasing twenty-five of its P-80 jet fighters. Since his arrival in Lima Pawley had achieved much in smoothing the troubled relationship between Washington and Lima, but the history of the Peruvian nationalization of American min...

Heavy Cruiser Andromeda, the Gulf of Paria, Monday, 12 September 1949 Falkeon’s humour was barely improved by the arrival of the heavy cruiser Phoenix, released by Admiral Momroios to offset the ‘loss’ of the destroyer Avenger in a night engagement. Fuel shortage had forced him to release the Avenger to attempt a refuelling at La Brea, but according to the exercise umpires she had been bushwhacked by Capitan Rivas Peralta’s marauding destroyers as they ‘shelled’ the oil installations there. At l...

A Spectre Resurgent

München, Germany, Wednesday, 21 September 1949 Suitably motivated, Leiter had managed to make delivery of the bank note paper Blofeld had ordered the day before; and to Kronsteen’s relief the German had not attempted to jack up the price to be paid. This of course left Kronsteen with the problem of safely getting the bundle of paper out of Germany to Switzerland without discovery; fortunately, this problem had been foreseen and prepared for. José Bandeira had notified Kronsteen earlier in the da...

Admiralty House, Port of Spain, Trinidad, Saturday, 10 September 1949 Admiral Momroios had returned to the plot that showed the overall progress of Exercise Callicles II, and he had to admit that Rollmann was doing a very good job of leading “Blue Fleet” on a merry chase. The previous evening the German cruisers Nürnberg and Leipzig had appeared off Invaders Bay and simulated a bombardment of Admiralty House itself, while Falkeon and his task force had been kept busy chasing after the Chilean de...

Quoted from "Brockpaine" Quoted from "BruceDuncan" You have the better of me. What previous Ollanta? The Ollanta was built in 1930, I believe. But it's just now entering service...? It is re-entering service. I have presumed that during the period between her original entry into service and the present point in game time, she fell out of service (perhaps due to hostilities? I do not know how that part of the Andean War might have worked out in detail) and required reconditioning, which has been...
