Thailand Q1/1948-Q1/1949

As used in our game, a Sim Report - short for Simulation Report - is intended to be a rather detailed outline of what the player has done in terms of naval construction with the infrastructure and resources available to him. It would chronicle a quarters activity in construction - from keel laying to completion (in the timescale predicated by our rules) and trials (again, in a specified timescale). It would specify what vessels are repaired, upgraded, or scrapped, together with the details of wh...

Peruvian News and Events, June 1949

The Peruvian Times (Lima), 5 June 1949 The destroyers Bustamante and Ugarte, the latest vessels of the Cano-class, were commissioned today at the Callao Naval Dockyard. The vessels are scheduled to undergo their trials and then commence an extended period of operational training. Their arrival from the dockyards comes none too soon, as it is reported that the eight destroyers of the Teniente Vasquez class, which have been in reserve for the last several months, have been sold abroad. If the latt...

Parador scripset: Quoted This are bad news - Since we now know what you do not want- How has WW2 look like so you take part in it? I appreciate you as a very valuable player and would find it a very big loss if you were not there anymore. Thank you for your kind thought. However, let me make clear that I am not leaving the current game. I do not know how long it will take to play out (I am guessing at least twelve months at our current rate) but my intention is to stay to the end. “How has WW2 l...

How did they do that?

Have you ever wondered how the Swedish 40mm Bofors came to become a standard piece of US ordnance? Well, here is a part of the answer.

I think at this point I am uninterested in any Wesworld 2.0 variant. At the present rate of gameplay, Wesworld 1.0 is good for another year, if not more. I will have been ten years of play for me, and time for a new phase of life. But you will have me around until WW 4Q1950. :D

Looking over the design of the Chaemp I see a number of areas in which you might be able to effect improvements, as well as some minor points. I’ll speak to the latter first The 40mm and 20mm batteries should be noted as Antiaircraft if that is your intent; for a destroyer in this period, that would be the normal expectation. The choice of a COSAD powerplant is interesting; they’ve been used on larger vessels but at least to in my memory not on destroyer sized vessels. There does not seem to be ...

Brock scripset: Quoted As a side-comment, it was only by talking to Taccovert via the Discord channel that I discovered Hoo apparently hasn't been approving new member applications since I'm-not-really-sure-when. So who knows how many potential people we might have had join the forum, never get approved to post, and never figure out how to contact us for troubleshooting. This is unfortunate.

Philippine News and Events 1949

Naval Operating Base Cavite, Tuesday, 31 May 1949 The mood was somber among the visitors invited to witness the launch ceremonies for the cruiser Sorsogon. As she was towed to the fitting out wharf for the next phase of her construction, the attention of those assembled shifted to the horizon where the escort destroyers Solano, Socorro, Pola, and Pontevedra, in line astern, where headed out into Manila Bay past the rock of Corregidor beginning an operational deployment in a time of high tension....

New Thai Designs

Quoted from "Taccovert4" Eh, well the sacrosanct will be getting an edit when I'm done. Specifically I'm definitely going to be building 3 new small cruisers and a new carrier. Plus a run of destroyers if I can get springsharp to cooperate with me. I meant sacrosanct from the viewpoint of other players; the owning player can (and should) edit or add as he see fit. This is to avoid comments cluttering up the encyclopedias.

New Thai Designs

Quoted from "Taccovert4" There are still some things I'll have to work out. I do feel a bit of time pressure in the catching up phase, so there's an effort to make some things happen with a bit of speed and intensity. I also had a 7 month old who wasn't being very cooperative last night, which didn't help at all, hence some just downright dumb mistakes. I just checked.....and yes I was using Springsharp 3 rather than 2. After I re-installed 2. *facepalm*. I'll re-sim the ships in 2 so everythin...

New Thai Designs

A few comments on the new designs posted in the Thai encyclopedia CL Taksin - the main battery specifies breechloading guns; is this correct? At this point in time I would have expected at least quick-firing guns, though perhaps not automatics. Also the secondary battery has six dual purpose guns but specifies four single mounts... CV Rachan - the primary AA battery of eight 76mm guns specifies four single mounts... and it looked as if some of the ship's dimensions were omitted. We normally sim ...

Find a map for WesWorld2…

Quoted from "Desertfox" What would you define as ahistorical? By definition wouldn't everything be ahistorical? Say the point of departure is a victorious CSA in 1864, would that be considered ahistorical? A victorious Confederate States of America is a premise I would be willing to consider, if a convincing-enough historical backstory could be constructed - though I would not admit mere hand-waving of the CSA into existence. A Grand Mexico would not. The suggestion of an all-Boer South Africa ...
