German News and Events 1949

Being a rather tactiturn man, Attlee would probably not have intended his speech giving so much mirth to the German legation but would be glad to know that he has raised their spirits.

British Empire News 1949

4 May Three men stood on the windy foreshore looking out to sea. The area was the most northernmost and remotest point in the British Isles, to the east lay the town of Thurso. The men were trying to unfold a large sheet of paper. "So this will be the site?" one of the men asked. One of the other men, in the uniform of the Royal Navy replied, "Yes, this is a suitably remote and secure place. And being not far from Scapa affords us excellent cover." The third man nodded, "Once the Treasury is squ...

naval projects for Atlantis, 1948

An ambitious rebuild but one that certainly makes good use out of an older obsolete ship class. The only thing that I would comment on, and that is not surprising given the scale of the misc weight, is that the stability is borderline at 1.01. But I assume you intend using this in sheltered coastal waters so it would not be a massive handicap.

1 May The Ministry of Defence has issued the 1949 TOE for a revised Infantería de Marina Brigada organisation. The aim is to make the unit more compact, saving manpower and transport bulk. The Staff unit has lost its Mapping Platoon as exercises have shown that its largely redundant with greater reconnaissance and planning carried out at the Marina headquarters before a landing operation takes place. The Artillería de Campaña Regiment has been renamed a Bandera and is now comprised of: Artillerí...

Ships on market

I know I've said this before, and others disagreed, but I think the appetite for naval RPGs like these has gone. We have 3-5 active players, N-Verse has 5, most of whom used to be active here and the pace of activety there looks even slower than here! That's hardly encouraging. World of Warships with its fancy graphics has probably stolen a lot of the younger would-be naval RPG players away from rather duller spreadsheet and text based RPGs like ours. Over at Shipbucket we have dozens of artists...

Ships on market

My idea was just a suggestion in case people were worried about excess profit. I don't think the appetite for NPC sales is there. Given there are only potentially 6 quarters of the sim left it seems pointless to bother too much about it. Rules changes now are not worth it.

Well its no big issue either way it was just a suggestion. The seakeeping does seem rather poor, even for a destroyer. I know we discussed some time back that for destroyers the SS report is probably less accurate in regards to seakeeping ability, but these ships really seem to be quite poor in that regard.

Whats the worry, we could decide a scrap value +5% or 10% profit NPC sale rule. At this late state of the sim is it really going to matter if these end up with Mexico, Thailand, Bulgaria or wherever? Its not like Peru can do much with that tonnage to build any super-battleships before the sim ends.

Or sell them to an NPC nation, many of them need updating and it seems logical they would want modern ships, these are nearly brand new. Makes no sense for me to buy them with any of my player hats on.
