Australian Overflight Protest

In case anyone is wondering, this isn't the first time the RAN has thrown a "Welcome Party" for the Germans: http://wesworld.jk-clan.de/index.php?pag…race#post106580 Why haven't I protested to the LoN in the past? One the Germans where not as bold, and two no one really cared the last few times I did protest. This time Australia had greater support and a continuous pattern of German actions. I waited a week in RL waiting for the news of the German squadron in port in order to date my own. And ar...

Australian Overflight Protest

OOC There have been no overflights of French territory by Australian aircraft. That was a line by an officer on what he wanted done, not what actually has happened. Now for the naval exercise that was officially announced and will happen. I dont see how anyone could have a problem with it. Its not like I am having it in the Bay of Biscay, but rather right of my coast and major bases.

Mexico has been surprisingly quiet, any questions directed at Mexico will be met with either "got to get to an important meeting" or "there's a family emergency". OOC I am not sure if the technology of the time allowed for directly recording radar tracks. That said, revealing radar tracks would both reveal the capabilities of Commonwealth radar systems and the specific locations of the radars. So no radar tracks will be available to anyone other than allied countries. Properly sanitized and anno...

OOC Quoted Archipelagic states are states that are composed of groups of islands forming a state as a single unit, with the islands and the waters within the baselines as internal waters. Under this concept ("archipelagic doctrine"), an archipelago shall be regarded as a single unit, so that the waters around, between, and connecting the islands of the archipelago, irrespective of their breadth and dimensions, form part of the internal waters of the state, and are subject to its exclusive sovere...

OOC Regarding 2) in order for the German flights to have confidence in their finds of little or none military activity they had to have been flight very close to the 3 mile limit, and while that can be done from international airspace for Seedler Harbor, the same can not be said for Rabaul as the waters surrounding Rabaul are internal waters.

Australian Overflight Protest

"Australia would like to question the motive for which Germany decides to openly confess the undertaking of aerial espionage of another country's territory. However, the answer may lie in the fact that the territories that Germany has admitted to conducting reconnaissance overflights of, where once German territories. It is now clear to the Australian Government that Germany has designs on these territories. Recent German re-armament has focused on long-range naval operations and amphibious warf...

OOC What he wants and what he will actually get are two separate things I do have plenty of other assets that can be used. However, this is the exact mission for which the Albatross was designed for. What better training opportunity is there? But the Albatrosses wont be flying much untill the Germans leave port.

Australian Overflight Protest

January 1st, 1946 The Australian ambassador to the League of Nations presents the following: "On the morning of December 9th 1945, an Arado Ar196 float-plane operating from one of the cruisers of the German East Asia Fleet undertook an armed reconnaissance overflight of strategic Australian military facilities in the Admiralty Islands of the coast of New Guinea. This flight conducted without a formal request or prior warning, is seen by the Australian Government as very provocative and as a deli...

Australian Intelligence Service, Ad hoc Kriegsmarine Team, December 20, 1945 "Ok so what do we know about the Germans other than they are for sure in New Caledonia?" "They took a long time getting there, they must have conducted some sort of exercise along the way. They also took some resupply ships with them. We did an estimated track of the Germans and it does place them near the Admiralty Islands around the time the plane was spotted." "Well we can't discount the idea of someone else doing so...

I haven't gotten around to doing the SS2. It is basically a 25% (15% cost) refit, primarily life-extension, with some weapon changes to accommodate new ASW stuff. All of the refit with the exception of sonar changes can be done portside. Only sonar needs to be done in dock, so I figured the ships could cycle thru the lone Type 2 Dock. However, all the frigates taking the other docks should be launched midway thru the quarter freeing those docks too.
