Tender of the chinese army

The chinese army was searching for a replacement of the aged Luliu, Jingjiu and Xiniu tracked towing vehicles. Another point was the growing of the different calibers in the howitzers or mortars as well as in the field guns. Which the old vehicles often only could move in a tandem tow. Therefore also three different types were developed. Lulio II : (Light tracked towing vehicle) Specifications : Dimensions: Length: 5313 mm Width: 2214 mm Height: 2200 mm Weight: 6400 kg Capacity: Load capacity : ...

Quoted from "BruceDuncan" I'm sorry about that. I should have sent a PM. As said no problem. China give the two german vessels a very warm welcome. Perhaps it is again the beginning of a fruitful cooperation of the two countries.

German News and Events, 1948

Quoted from "BruceDuncan" Quoted from "parador" Quoted from "BruceDuncan" Der Ostasiatische Lloyd (Shanghai), Sunday, 25 April 1948 The frigates Blitz and Pfeil of the East Asia Squadron arrived at Woosung yesterday for bunkers. Isn't Woosung a part of Shanghai ? It is now, wasn't always that way. But it is chinese territory so i wonder that the ships didn't ask for permission to sail to this chinese harbor. After all, they are maritime forces of a foreign country. Not that I will have forbidde...

Friday 9. January – Pratas Island The sun was shining over Pratas Island, sometimes a breeze fanned and rippled the water. Construction cranes hoisted loads through the air, trucks carrying earth, stones and boulders. Soldiers, individually and in groups, scooped or dragged bulwarks, they spiked barbed wire and buried mines in unclear areas. The island was like a termite building, all over land, on the water and in the air were rush and activity. The diesel engines of the patrol boats bulged int...

Chinese Ships for 1948

Quoted from "Brockpaine" Quoted from "parador" That's why the main task is on the smaller Shen Neng - Class. The two big Cuiniao are more seen as "firefighters" That means the two ships will escort every expedition in the arctic or antarctic. Sure the Cuiniao is for daily work with small ice a little bit overdesigned but for the work in the extreme north / south it's a good ship (i think). Mm, perhaps. I'm not fully convinced - I think it's too large for your primary mission in the Bohai Sea, a...

Chinese Ships for 1948

Quoted from "Brockpaine" From my research, it looks like the Bohai Sea has an average of 5cm sea ice buildup around the coast, with marginal sea ice occasionally spreading a bit beyond that. Apparently the Bohai Sea is the most southerly (Northern Hemisphere) sea that regularly ices. Interesting; I wouldn't have guessed that.. I was also surprised, that the Bohai Sea gets regularly iced. But that's the reason why i think such ships are needed for the chinese fleet. Quoted from "Brockpaine" Look...

Beijing Newspaper Q1/1948 - Chinese news and events - January / February / March

Monday 5. January - Headquarter of the North fleet Tianjin In the early evening hours of the 5th of January, an icy northwest wind swept over the naval base and brought the first snow of this winter to Tianjin. The small white crystals that swept from the high plateau of the Inner Mongolia glittered on the roofs. Large ice floes crashed on the sea, and outside, on the square in front of the building lay a ten-inch-high snow cover. Only in a room on the first floor, at eight o'clock in the evenin...

Chinese Ships for 1948

In OTL in 1969, large scale icing in Bohai Sea caused great economic loss and proved that older icebreakers built before 1950 were simply too small and too old to perform icebreaking duties effectively in severe icing conditions. (from wikipedia) So in my eyes, there is sure some need for some icebreakers. By the way, China didn't had an "pure ice breaker" till now. Sure there some ships with "ice breaking capabilities", but no pure ice breaker. And of course there is not such a huge demand like...

Silkway Rallye 1947

OOC: I am very happy that you all enjoyed my report on the Silkway Rallye. At first I did not know how to play the individual stages. I have looked after all possibilities in the WWW. I thought, i can play it like a board game or something similar. But somehow I have found nothing suitable. But then chance came to my rescue - in the form of a fantasy-roleplay (i play sometimes with my fellow students [started in 1993 and still playing twice a year]). There, events happened by rolling a dice and ...
