Hi Wes, Hood, Like I said, I think postimage has a business model that makes sense. I did so a couple direct link posts when I was changing out images from photobucket over on the BC board and our Own Designs board. But most of what I've replaced has been via the thumbnail in order to preserve the 'deal' with postimage. I posted some of CanisD's images a while back over on the Own Designs board, along with links to his stuff. For some reason, the images have not been replaced with the photobucke...
Quoted from "thesmilingassassin" A list of image hosting sites courtesy of Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_image-sharing_websites A good find there; thanks for sharing it. I found this article https://www.lifewire.com/free-image-hosting-sites-3486329 recently edited as photobucket has been removed from the list. I chose to go with postimage.org for a couple reasons. First, they have a business model that makes sense to me. You place a thumbnail in your post and the full-sized im...
Nicely done, Hood!! I did ask Smurf if he found any reason for F3, with less shaft horsepower, to have a larger (longer) funnel than F2, which had more horsepower, but he said he had not encountered any reasoning there.... Thanks for sharing! Regards,
Thank you for sharing the news, Hood. Another irreplaceable loss! I know Dave had issues with diabetes over the years. I hope his sci-fi drawing board continues. May God have mercy on his soul.
YAQW, Bruce. I hope more Wesworld designs will find their way over there Quoted from "Hood" Smurf has been an invaluable help in my quest to draw every never built RN interwar capital ship over at Shipbucket. Using those plans of the Fs, which he sent me earlier this year,I am currently drawing both F2 and F3. His judicious judgement is invaluable when filling in the details and gaps in knowledge regarding these designs. It's only when you draw them you realise how isn't shown on these plans (es...

With Swamphen's permission, over on the Warship Discussion Own Design Board, I've posted some drawings I did for him when he was Lord of the Philippines: http://alltheworldsbattlecruisers.yuku.c…lds-Philippines Regards,
I thought I'd just tack this onto the previous announcement in lieu of a new post. I started a thread over on the Warship Discussion forum's Own Design board on the F2 and F3 battlecruiser concepts. These designs were for 35,000 ton, 15in armed battlecruisers, and came between the 'super-ships' of 1920, such as K2 and G3, and the O3 battleship design, which we know as Nelson and Rodney. I started the thread with images Red Admiral had posted on the 3.0 Warship Projects boards, but thanks to memb...
Thanks Wes and Hoo. Hoo, there was a lot going on in my life in April 2014; I didn't learn of Bob's passing until well after the fact. There are some details on NavWeaps BB forum; http://warships1discussionboards.yuku.com/topic/26237 Regards,
Hello all, It's been a while since I posted here (years in fact), but I recently 'spoke' to Wes, and I'd like to get you up-to-date on some happenings As you may know, Bob Henneman passed away in April of 2014. His forum on yuku, the old Battlecruiser forum, was where his group reconvened when his phpbbplanet forum was destroyed. It had gone unmoderated for 11 months, so in March I asked Yuky if I could take over the forum. They graciously agreed, so please consider his old forum active. http://...
Quoted Originally posted by CanisD Beautiful, Canis! Do I see additional beam around the forward turret? One minor nit with the sim, the historic Iowa and her sisters had a block coefficient of .61. I would think Kansas would equal that. Quoted I figure the Iowa had that same feature with its forward stack. I seem to remember reading that it had something to do with preventing vibration in the director. What you do not smell is Iocane powder! Slightly more seriously, I think what you recall was...
Again, beautiful. Excellent work!
Beautiful, Canis. When does the "Wesworld" collection go up on your "Various Stuff" page? Regards,
Wes, Shouldn't she be bulged as well? Historically the went to 102 ft in beam... And the increased hull strength should solve the 'end-on' fire warning... My thoughts,
Quoted if you go to zha'ha'dum, you will die. At the time, that kicked off a whole series of parody emails amongst my friends, starting with If you go to za'ha'dum, wear a sweater. You can imagine how the rest went.... "If you go to Za'ha'dum, carry an umbrella" "If you go to Za'ha'dum, bring your Visa; they don't take American Express" "If you go to Za'ha'dum, watch out for the tourist traps" etc., etc...
Quoted I jsut remembered something, in the confines of Spithead torpedoes would rule! I don't know, Foxy. With that many ships, you might have a lot of trouble getting the torpedo to run far enough to arm...
Monty, That's very interesting. I wonder if the name choice had anything to do with the college? Swampy, I've always thought this ship eptiomized the spacefaring capital ship. THANKS CANIS!!! See, naval warfare is not he Wolf's only art...
Quoted Don't anyone suggest Pinafore, Troutbridge or Cromwell. How about "Bounty" to reflect the, uh, vast resources Canada posses? ShinRa, if you want to remind to your southern neighbor of the last time he incurred into Canada, you could call them the "Battle" class, Quebec and Montreal. Or Lake Ontario and Lake Erie...
Quoted HMCS William Barker That's a great idea, Rocky. I'd also suggest HMCS Silver Dart, after Canada's first plane. Another famous aircraft that could be honored is La Vigilance. She's supposed to be the first plane to undertake a "bush" flight. John McCurdy and Frederick Baldwin, Canada's aviation pioneers, could fit the bill as well. Barker should definitely be the first choice if going with WWI aviators. A couple others I'd suggest would be Billy Bishop and AA McLeod who also won the VC. B...
Could be the saint. http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/02648c.htm He has a Canada connection. A quickie from Wikki: Quoted Namesakes of St. Bonaventure Ventura, California and Ventura County, California are named for Saint Bonaventure, as is Bonaventure, Quebec. St. Bonaventure University, the largest Franciscan university in the English-speaking world, is located in Western New York. St. Bonaventure's College is a private Roman Catholic school located in Newfoundland . And St. Bonaventure College ...
