I was looking around a bit and wondering... aren't we doing the world cups the wrong way? Looks to me that historically it was a knock out tournament in 1934 and 1938 and would probably have been easier to sim as it involves less matches...

... guess I found that out too late...

Not sure I can say if it's right or not. This seems to be the way Perdy did it back in 1938, so this is how I'm doing it now. Maybe we'll do it differently in 1946... :P

So, looks like we're down to Argentina, Brazil, Germany, and Indochina. Here's how I'm going to run the final round. I'm going to use my random number generator to randomize the matchup, and pair two sets of two teams against each other. The victors of those two games advance to play each other for first place; the loser takes second place. The losers of those two games play each other for third place.

*Randomizes the matches.*

And the dicebot has decreed that:

ARGENTINA v. GERMANY
and...
BRAZIL v. INDOCHINA

Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

The German team tries its best to look humble for the press.

All Germany goes wild, in an orderly manner of course. :D
