Doing alot of thinking.
Going thru the concept time and time again, getting a headake from trying to figure out more basic aspects of the fleet.
And I came up with this.
A 1930 fleet expansion program.
This program is a way to replace the WWI and before vintege ships. It will start in 1930 and end in 1940

Base expectancy from the designs.
8 gun bourd side:
All ship will have a 8 gun primary and secondary bourd side.
All capital ship will have a range of 10000nm@10kt or more
Destroyers will have a renge of 7000nm@10kt or more.
The secondary guns caliber is to be small aloving the ship carring it to have a 8 gun bourd side.
Destroyers are alove not to have a secondary bourd side of 8 guns becose it will simply not fit the small hulls.
8 torpedo tubes bourd side is all so reqaierd from all newly build ships.

Battleships.
All ships of the older classes will be either scraped or relegeted to training dutys.
6 fast bb will recive upgrades.
Upgrades will constitute with lengthing the hull new engines new secondarys, and inrease in main calibre elevation.

Carriers
4 Large(25000t) carriers air group of 75 aircrafts
6 small (10000t)carrier airgroup of 30 aircrafts.

Cruiser.
2 classes of 4 10000t ships will be build.
The ships will recive 8x 203mm(8'') guns.
2 Classes of 4 7000t ship will be build
The ships will have 8x150mm(6'') guns

Destroyers
A class of 4 ship will be laid down every two years.
1800/2000t Armed with 105mm guns.

All in all ships laid down from 1930 to 1940
4 CV
6 CVL
8 CA
8CL
20 DD

The weapons that will be developed for the program.

203mm heavy cruiser gun.the design that is the simlest will be chosen.RoF must be above 5 round a minut.

150mm light cruiser gun.RoF over 8 rounds per minut is requaired.

125mm Battleship secondary gun a DP weapon with RoF of 12 rounds per minut.

105mm Desteyer main and Heavy cruiser secondary gun.
A DP weapon capeble of RoF 25 round per minut and more.

70mm rapid fire. This weapon have as high a RoF as posible
It will be used on light cruisers. This weapon will alove the ship to soft kill the enemy weales. large number of shell will.
This weapon is some what a compromise it dosnt have the nessesery stoping power but the secondary 8 gun bourd side on the light cruisers demands to use a smaler weapon.
This will be also the primery AA weapon of the fleet.
It will be use in twin mounts.

20mm AA cannon. This will be the close in AA weapon.
Mounted in single twin and quad mounts

All in all ships laid down from 1930 to 1940
4 CV
6 CVL
8 CA
8CL
20 DD

My immediate observation is that you'll find you have more ships requiring escort than you will escorts.

Cruiser 1918-1930

Last night I wrote history of cruisers

The era betwin 1918 and 1930 was realtivly uneventfull.
In that time there were 6 BB finnished with construction started in the ending days of WWI.

This is a traslation of that modest piece.

1918

Cruisers.
After the war cruiser there were only two classes of cruisers build one light and one heavy.
In 1921 there were six light cruisers laid down.
There construction was anachronistic with use of single mount.
6000t displacment and 7 cannons of 150mm caliber

The layout was 2 fore 2 aft superfiring one center line center mount and two on sides aft.
..............1
1 1s 1s 1s 1
..............1
Ship also had 8 TT in twins on sides
Speed was high 35kt

Second class was a heavy cruiser.
in 1925 when other navys started construction of heavy cruisers.
It was decided the two ships of this type will be laid down
Armed with six 210mm guns in twins with supperfiring pair foward and 8 125mm guns in dual mounts on sides.
6 TT was also fitted in triple mounts on sides.
The ships speed was 32 kt.

The light cruiser were not popular with the crews there were wet and uncofortable all six ships had there side mounts removed that however. But they were still wet ships. There design speed of 35 kt was never acheved in operational life

Heavy cruiser were a more solid design.
But there armour was always considerd to light.

In that time an experimental carrier enterd service it was a converted oceanliner of 12000 BRT.

Destroyers were build one class of 4 ships every 2 years
Starting from 1918 with the first post war warships, a 1000t DD armed with 3x125mm guns and speed of 33kt
The destroyer were slowly growing with every next design.
1920. 1200t 3x125mm 33kt
1922. 1400t 3x125mm 33kt
1924. 1400t 4x125mm 34kt
1926. 1500t 5x125mm 34kt
1928. 1500t 5x125mm 34kt
The evolution of DD design was as follows
1918 design was armed with six TT in dual mouts
1920 had also 6 TT but there were in two triples
1922 was bigger alowing better seakeeping
1924 design introduced dual main mounts and and the number of TT increasd to 9 in 3 triples
1926 had decreased the numer of TT to 8 but there were in 2 quads a fifth gun was place on centerline aft superfiring.
1928 was a modification of the previous design.

Not very anachronistic. Sounds like HMS Enterprise and Emerald, which were fairly successful ships and nice and fast as well.

As my site will be about tactics first and individual ships second, Im planing to do the era by each build plan of the navy.Every major event in naval architecture will be represented.

circa 800
No guns
catapults and archers are the ships altylery.
Boarding and ramming main tactic of ship to ship combat.
Roman style galley's
long range sail ships are the primery used to ferry warriors to enemy lands.

circa 1400
The gun makes an aperence
Galleys are still the primery ship of war
but will soon make way for galeons and caravalas.

circa 1500
Age of sail.
Woden ships of the line are kings of sea and will remain them for the next 3 and a half century.

1850
Armoured alteliry platforms.
First time iron used as an armour on something that flouts.
At the same time steam engines are put on ships genaraly as auxilery power.

1860
With the arival of Warrior all of the navy is absolete by night.
Ships of the line and armoured frigates
All ship will be steam driven with mast.

1870.
Turrented mastless ships.
Build program is modifide all newer man-o-war's will have turrents and will have no masts.

1885.
Cruisers are being build no mast on new ships.
New triple extrension steam plans enter service as ships powerplants
First powerd torpedos

1895
Submarines

circa 1900
Aeronautic is now used as limited smoting platform at sea.

1902
Steam turbines on smaller ships.

1904
Aircraft.

1906
Dreadnought!
Now the fun starts.

1918
Post WWI navy
BB CA CL DD etc

1922
Aircraft carriers get there recogintion as warships are now a part(althou small) of naval tactics.

1941 Trent,Pearl Harbour but moustly sinking of PoW and Renown.
Aircraft the main tool of sinking warships.

1945
A-Bomb

At this time my fantasy nation timeline no longer fits with the realworld.A third superpower simply will not fit in the egsisting planet, althou I will try my best to incorporate it.

1950
The end of an era. big guns are no longer belive worght a while.Once proud and majestic ships of the line are now rediuced to role of monitors.Shore bombardment is what they have do for a living(sad end).
Missles the tool in ship on ship combat.
Guns used as airdefence only(well there are basicly DP but there usefullness is close to non egsistent in modern sea warfare

Circa 1955.
Atomic power used on ships(Ships get a "N" added to ther prefix) and its weapons.
An era when a single ship was able to wipe out milions of lifes.

circa 1982
Information warfare precision strikes that sort of bull
(I dont know if this is important the tactic didnt changed much ,there is simply more info avielable to individual commander. Still trading missle fire is the way of thinking)

I know this is basic stuff but not every body knows that and puting it in is a must.

If you mean balloons then fine, but heavier than air craft are yet to fly.

Well it does say:

1904
Aircraft.

... so that would definitely mean balloons.

Airships, non rigid and Zepelins.
Ballons?
Well I see no use for them at sea maybe dreging one behind a warship is usefull but too not practical.
