Questions on Argentine vessels

Class 616 river gun boats:
- Isn't that funnel a bit small? Even for a low power VTE engine you may need a bigger one, for ventilation at least - and there might also be the issue of smoker interferance....
- The vessel has a beam of 8m but yet you have put a tower of about 5 decks height on it. SS report set aside - is that realistic?

Class 617 river gun boat:
I like the design a lot but dare I ask for a deck plan? On 12m brasm you've put a lot side by sed, especially where those secondary guns are. Those need deck space to be operated and trained and those deck houses will be thin at best. To make things worse you've then added AA guns of 37mm caliber on platforms abreast (atop?) the aft pair of 75mm guns. I dare say there is not enough space.

In general
Where can I find a list of warships currently in servise on the rivers in/for Paraguay and where they have their bases?
Which units are under construction or rebuild or in trials that belong to the Argentine/Paraguayan river force?
I tried with your reports and encyclopedia but cannot be sure to have them all listed.

Thanks,

Answers to those questions;

Project 616:
It is diesel powered, 2x 500hp diesels. Shouldn't need that much funnel, if your concerned though lets say there are two funnels side-by-side. ;)

I'll agree the tower is probably too high. The idea was to place the rangefinder as high as possible for spotting against shore targets. The tower is just for bridge spaces but equipment would be minimal.

Project 617:
Yes the deck house would be fairly narrow, the 75mm guns would be mounted as far outboard as practically possible, hence the overhanging platforms over the hull. I agree the twin 37mm is probably poorly mounted, but the 75mm has good forward arcs.

Rio Paraguay Forces:

Brigada Naval IV (HQ Asuncion, Paraguay, CO Almirante Bozzano Baglietto)

Formosa
2nd River Squadron; CO Capitan de Navio Hoho (five river gunboats R6-R10)
[Type 7A River Gunboat ARA R6 to R10, (wood+steel) 27 tons, 19.2/4.8/0.65m, two 150bhp diesels 11kts, 2x37mm 2x13mm HMG 2x7.92mm MG, 21 crew]

Asuncion
Gunboat Squadron; CO Captain de Navio Chavez
ARA El Plata (Los Andes Class)
ARA Humaita and ARA Paraguay (Italian-built ex-Paraguayan Humaita Class)
ARA Parana, Rosario, Patria and Pilcomayo, all Project 616 class
(plus under construction Project 617 ARA Rio Paraguay, ready in Q4/42)
1st River Squadron; CO Capitan de Navio Guido (five river gunboats R1-R5)
[Type 3A River Gunboat ARA R1 to R5, (wood+steel) 27 tons, 19/4.8/0.6m, two 150bhp diesels 11kts, 1x37mm 1x20mm 3x7.92mm MG, 19 crew]

Brigada Naval V (HQ Bahia Blanca, CO Almirante Dominguez)
Training Squadron; CO Vice Almirante Teisaire
At Formosa the sqaudron has;
RTS 409 ex-Patria (static drill ship)
RTS 410 ex-Parana (gunnery training) [the sole survivor of the old Parana Class, she is still kept in steaming condition and in wartime would join the Gunboat Sqaudrom]

Further construction plans: probably some new motor gunboats to replace R1 to R5 during 1943.

Just a knock-about idea, to replace the small river motor gunboats I might build five of these. Basically a Project 611 patrol boat but with more dakka.
A twin 55-57mm class automatic weapon, two twin 37mm and some MG. Basically its designed to sweep smaller vessels off the waters, leaving the bigger gunboats to do the fire support. Also these can double as AA escort craft.

Project 618, Argentina Light Patrol Craft laid down 1943

Displacement:
173 t light; 182 t standard; 192 t normal; 200 t full load

Dimensions: Length overall / water x beam x draught
149.13 ft / 144.36 ft x 21.33 ft x 5.74 ft (normal load)
45.46 m / 44.00 m x 6.50 m x 1.75 m

Armament:
2 - 2.24" / 57.0 mm guns (1x2 guns), 6.00lbs / 2.72kg shells, 1941 Model
Anti-aircraft guns in deck mount
on centreline forward
4 - 1.46" / 37.0 mm guns (2x2 guns), 1.55lbs / 0.70kg shells, 1936 Model
Anti-aircraft guns in deck mounts
on centreline, all aft
4 - 0.51" / 13.0 mm guns in single mounts, 0.07lbs / 0.03kg shells, 1936 Model
Machine guns in deck mounts
on side, all amidships
Weight of broadside 18 lbs / 8 kg
Shells per gun, main battery: 400

Armour:
- Gun armour: Face (max) Other gunhouse (avg) Barbette/hoist (max)
Main: 0.98" / 25 mm 0.79" / 20 mm -
2nd: 0.39" / 10 mm 0.20" / 5 mm -
3rd: 0.39" / 10 mm 0.20" / 5 mm -

- Conning tower: 0.98" / 25 mm

Machinery:
Diesel Internal combustion motors,
Direct drive, 2 shafts, 2,000 shp / 1,492 Kw = 21.18 kts
Range 1,500nm at 12.00 kts
Bunker at max displacement = 17 tons

Complement:
25 - 33

Cost:
£0.099 million / $0.397 million

Distribution of weights at normal displacement:
Armament: 2 tons, 1.2 %
