So Peru's fishing for an Atlantean pacific squadron?
The truth comes out!

There are only so many used ships to purchase before new ones will become the proper counter.

As for the 15" race, I'd think larger given the info Atlantis has been able to dig up.

Chile is a threat that Peru manufactured by forcing their entry into the war against Bolivia on Chiles side.

I disagree. All you have to do to see that Chile was a threat to Peru is to look back at the Chilean antics when Peru bought Lima, a coastal defence battleship far inferior to even the unrefitted BBs of the Chilean Navy. Yet it still caused a Chilean reaction intended to humiliate and enrage the Peruvians, which was successful.

A reason to seek accomodation with Iberia, to protect themselves from the superior Chilean force, and them the further humiliation of the Huascar affair forced this errand in search of battleships.

Germany has the luxury of disagreement, they don't have any territory to defend in the region.

Well it certainly changed the balance of power. Before the Mexican Navy could blast the Peruvians out of the water. I can still do so but need unconventional tactics. Im no longer facing a couple of Lunas one on eachside of the Panama canal but 4 Battleships.

However it could have good effects. With the Italians causing stirs at Cleito I might just be able to convince Wes to donate the Atlas class BBs to Mexico!

Or new builds perhaps, why counter elderly ships with other elderly ships when you can completely outclass them.

Germany has the advantage of distance, which allows it to look in on things without having lenses of national necessity over it's vision. At least in this particular case. ;)

From an out-of-character perspective, the jostling for position and prestige in Central and South America is rather entertaining. Maybe Kirk and I should start escorting each other's new ships "for the sake of their own safety against pirates" and what-not.

June 22nd 1933- The Ministry of the Navy announced today that the trials of the destroyer Capitan Hernandez and the submarine P-2 will finalize at the end of the month in Germany and both units will join our fleet during the month of July.

The same source stated that our Navy is currently building similar ships in country and that our capabilities will increase with time.
