The second of the ships constructed using the turrets of the scrapped Doria. While the Presidente Bonifacio was well received as a secondary role ship useful for the insular areas of the Philippines this ship was considered to be a weak compromise when compared with other similar ships that appeared during the period like the Australian Lion and the Leopards.
