Naming small craft

It has been decided that the Filipino Navy's small craft, previously only numbered ("D-1" etc.), should receive names.

The ex-Italian destroyers, previously slated to receive "I" numbers, will instead retain their Italian names.

All other destroyers will receive names of birds.

Submarines will receive names of marine life.

Patrol boats will receive insect names

Minesweepers and torpedo boats will remain numbered.

And so, the 'change list':

Destroyers
PRS D-1 - Solitario (Dodo)
PRS D-2 - Avestruz (Ostrich)
PRS D-5 - to be scrapped Q2/24, no new name
PRS D-7 - to be scrapped Q3/24, no new name
PRS D-8 - to be scrapped Q4/24, no new name
PRS I-1 - Indomito (ex-Italian; retains old name)
PRS I-2 - Impavido (ex-Italian; retains old name)
PRS I-3 - Insidioso (ex-Italian; retains old name)
PRS I-4 - Irrequieto (ex-Italian; retains old name)
PRS F-1 - Rabihorcado (Frigatebird)
PRS F-2 - Alcatraz (Gannet)
PRS F-3 - Pelícano (Pelican)
PRS F-4 - Águila (Eagle)

Submarines
PRS S-1 - Tiburón (Shark)

Patrol boats
PRS P-1 - Abejorro (Bumblebee)

I've toyed with this as well, but the Germans didn't seem too keen on naming their small stuff, so I'm mostly sticking to that. The one shift is that I'm adopting "Z" numbers for new DDs, adn the numbering starts after that of the last unit laid down during the war (Something -202). The old DDs will stick with whichever letter they were assigned (it was based on who built them), but it gives me a headache and will not be continued in the future.

As for India, their Navy's German influences have had the same effect, though I may change my mind at some point if I can only find the appropriate names. A huge English/Hindi dictionary would be a marvellous asset to me...

Well, not sure how easy it is to find one. In the mean time, you could use the small one in the list here. It has about 4000 words Hindi => English and about 3000 words English => Hindi.
For the IJN, I've got a couple of dictionaries, a haiku book, a couple of travel guides, and tons of Manga and Anime. Enough sources to get names from. I've searched on the internet and found numerous names of "*maru" ships.
Despite that I use a Japanese kana and a number for the small ships, with some searching I could give every small ship a name as well.
