Not providing stats was sort of the point as it's just a sketch. Subsequent designs will be heaviily modified until the final product appears. The Fiat design turns into
this. The reason it looks so blocky at the moment is because its a mock up made from wood. New technology in the other tank is pretty much limited to torsion bar suspension and the welded turret. The torsion bar suspension was trialled in 1936 and then produced in the L.6/40 so its not much of a problem. Welding shouldn't pose a great problem for Terni steelworks. The engine unit is more or less the same as that mounted on the AB.35, a liquid cooled unit with fan assist for operations in the Sahara. Overheating shouldn't be a problem. Transmission at the rear saves a reasonable amount of space and already exists on the Semovente 100/35. Theres no bow gunner as it would be too hard to fit a mg onto the bow plate of armour. Keeping it nice and uniform makes it somewhat easier to produce. The commander operates the radio as per Italian practice. The armament in both cases is the 47mm, either the standard 47/32 or the longer 47/40 with a higher mv. Both are interchangeable with the 75/18 howitzer.
The Fiat unit is a development of
this line whilst the OTO design take elements from
this prototype. The latter was produced in few numbers in 1934 and didn't really work very well, but Argentina bought 50 of them...
